Juvenile Probation Officer
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree REQUIRED. Receive certification as a juvenile probation officer within six (6) months of hire date, including successful completion of CPR, First Aid, and physical restraint training. Must live in Shelby County, or an adjoining county if hired.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License. Be at least 21 years of age. Possess a working knowledge of office equipment and computer programs and software. Subject to criminal background check.
Description of the Work: Supervise and counsel juveniles in Shelby County, Texas. Conduct regular home, school, employment and office visits. Document all contacts regarding the child and family. Prepare written reports. Complete assessment instruments as instructed. Conduct interviews and provide court testimony. Enforce the orders of the Court and deal appropriately with violations of the court order per departmental policy. Ability to detain and transport juveniles on a gender specific basis. Hours greatly vary, and officers are on call 24/7. Comply with all Policies and Procedures of the Shelby County Juvenile Probation Department, all State Statutes and Standards, and all laws of the United States. Attend training and meetings out of the county. Comply with any and all other requirements and duties determined by the Chief.

Full time 911 addressing position using ArcMap to assign addresses and maintain the 911 map for Shelby County. Must be self-motivated and make responsible decisions. Works with DETGOG, Post Offices, Appraisal District, TXDOT and other local entities. 40 hours of GIS training required.
County Commissioners Secretary maintains road cost files, prepare A/P for Commissioners, issue road permits and other duties as needed. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
